Internships

Once a Social Work & Human Services student has decided on a degree track, they should see the Internship Instructor/Coordinator for intern referrals and job-hunting coaching in the final semesters of their studies.

Both semesters include a required in-person practicum component — you must be present on campus for this portion of the course.

Addiction Studies

Students are required to take SWHS 88 Addiction Practicum (2 units) concurrently with SWHS 99i Human Services Internship for a minimum of 3 units, and SWHS 86 Social Work Practicum (3 units). Both requirements must be completed, but they may be taken in any order.

These courses are only offered in the fall or spring semester, respectively.

The SWHS 99i 3-unit requirement for the Addiction Studies track requires a minimum of 112 hours per semester in a paid or unpaid addiction placement.

Advocacy, CWC & SWHS AA-T

Students are required to take SWHS 86 Social Work Practicum (3 units) in the spring semester.

This course combines practicum and fieldwork: 17.5 hours of practicum lecture plus a minimum of 105 hours per semester in a paid or unpaid Social Work & Human Services placement.
